How to Determine If PET Labels Are Suitable for Your Needs?
In industries such as industrial manufacturing, electronics, automotive parts, and outdoor equipment, an increasing number of companies are replacing traditional paper labels with PET adhesive labels. However, when confronted with the vast array of PET labels on the market—white, transparent, matte, high-adhesion, heat-resistant, and so on—you might wonder: Which one is right for my product? Is PET really the best choice for me? Don't worry! By answering just a few key questions, you can quickly determine whether PET labels are the perfect match for your needs.

I. First, ask about the usage environment: What will your labels have to endure?

The core advantage of PET labels is their strong weather resistance, but different scenarios have different performance requirements:
High-temperature environments (such as near motors, ovens, or engines)?
→ Choose heat-resistant PET labels (capable of withstanding 120℃ to 150℃, with some UL-certified models reaching up to 180℃).
Humid, water-washed, or oily environments (such as kitchen appliances, cold storage, or machinery)?
→ Ordinary PET is sufficient; it is waterproof, oil-resistant, and non-absorbent, far superior to paper.
Long-term outdoor exposure?
→ UV-resistant PET labels are a must; otherwise, ordinary PET may turn yellow and become brittle.
Low-temperature freezing (below -30℃)?
→ PET itself has good cold resistance, but it needs to be paired with low-temperature adhesive to prevent delamination.
Self-test: If your labels need to survive for more than half a year in environments that are "wet, hot, cold, sunny, and oily," PET is likely the best choice.

II. Next, consider the physical properties: Wear-resistant? Tear-resistant? Sticks well?

Frequently touched by hands or scraped by tools (such as power tools or instrument panels)?
→ Choose high-hardness gloss PET (thickness above 50μm), which has excellent surface scratch resistance.
To be applied to small curved surfaces or cylindrical objects (such as batteries or pipes)?
→ It is recommended to use thin PET (25–38μm), which has better flexibility and is less likely to lift at the edges.
Worried about label bubbling or curling edges?
→ Pay attention to the adhesive type + liner quality. Permanent acrylic adhesive + stable low-shrinkage PET substrate = better adherence.

III. The labeling method determines the form: Automatic labeling? Manual labeling?

For fully automatic labeling machine production?
→ You must use roll PET labels, and the following requirements must be met:
✓ Standard inner diameter (usually 1 inch or 3 inches)
✓ Neat edges and uniform tension
✓ No burrs or wrinkles
Manual labeling or small batch?
→ You can choose roll or single sheet/folded packaging, but it is recommended that the liner is easy to peel off to improve efficiency.

IV. Printing and compliance requirements cannot be ignored

Need to print barcodes, QR codes, serial numbers?
→ Be sure to choose PET with a printing coating (such as thermal transfer coating), otherwise, the ribbon adhesion will be poor, and the characters will be easily lost.
Exporting to Europe and America or for safety products?

→ Pay attention to whether it has passed UL certification, RoHS, REACH, etc. For example, UL-certified PET labels can be used for electrical nameplates and comply with safety standards.
