If there is a clear stringing → This is hot melt adhesive!

Principle: Hot melt adhesive is made of thermoplastic resin. It is solid at room temperature and becomes molten when heated for coating. Its molecular structure has high viscoelasticity and extensibility, making it easy to form fine threads when pulled apart.

Step 2: Distinguish Water-based Adhesive vs Oil-based Adhesive

Method: Water Soak Test
Soak the label in clear water for 10–30 minutes (the longer the time, the more obvious the effect).
Observe the changes in the adhesive surface and try to gently rub or peel off the adhesive layer.
If the adhesive surface turns white, becomes turbid, and the adhesive is easy to fall off → This is water-based adhesive!
If there is no significant change in the adhesive surface and the adhesive layer remains firm and difficult to remove → This is oil-based adhesive!
Principle: Water-based adhesive uses water as a solvent, with water-soluble polymers (such as acrylics) as the main components. It softens, emulsifies, and even dissolves when it comes into contact with water. Oil-based adhesive, on the other hand, is based on organic solvents and has strong water resistance, making it not easily damaged by water.
