Why Does a Barcode Printer Print Blank Paper?
Printing blank paper is a common minor issue with barcode printers, especially after changing the paper or ribbon. When using a barcode printer, it is easy to encounter paper jams, and the printed label positions may also be incorrect. The following methods can be used to check and resolve the issue. Here are the reasons and corresponding solutions for a barcode printer printing blank paper.

I. Incorrect Installation of Barcode Ribbon and Label Paper

Please reinstall the barcode ribbon and label paper according to the steps in the quick installation guide that comes with the printer.

II. Incorrect Position of the Paper Sensor

When you lift the print head, you will see a paper detector where the paper passes through. The detector needs to be covered by the paper for the barcode ribbon printer to correctly adapt to the size of the paper.

III. Mismatch Between the Settings and Actual Size of the Barcode Ribbon and Label Paper

In the “Page Setup” section of the barcode ribbon and label paper editing software, under the “Paper” tab, reset the settings. It is recommended to measure the actual height of the barcode ribbon and label paper with a ruler before printing, and then set the label correctly.

IV. Dirty Paper Sensor

Clean the paper sensor with anhydrous alcohol. Turn off the printer power before cleaning. Then perform the “Paper Detection” operation. While in standby mode, press and hold the FEED key for 3 seconds, and the three LED indicator lights will flash simultaneously.

V. Irregular Gaps Between Barcode Ribbon and Label Paper

Some label papers may have inconsistent sizes or intervals due to machine or mold issues during processing, which can prevent the barcode ribbon printer from sensing the size of the label paper.

VI. Too Thick Backing Paper or Irregular Label Paper

If the backing paper is too thick or the label paper is irregular, the printer may not be able to sense the size of the paper.

VII. Sensor Failure

If none of the above methods work, it is likely that the paper sensor has malfunctioned.
